Teresa Dee Nelson, 54, of Robbinsdale, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Tuesday November 12, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in Robbinsdale.
The memorial service to celebrate Teresa’s life will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Interment will be at Satersdal Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Teresa Dee Nelson was born September 14, 1965 at Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Robert and Sandra (Joppru) Nelson. She was baptized November 21, 1965 and confirmed May 3, 1981 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Teresa attended Northrop Elementary School, Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High graduating in 1984. She attended NDSU at Fargo, ND and graduated with an Interior Design Degree.
Teresa worked in areas of art studio’s, museums, Greenpeace USA and retail stores in Minneapolis. She loved to travel (just wanted to make enough money to travel anywhere). Her journeys took her throughout the United States for Greenpeace, Europe 2-3 times, Far East for three months (India, Nepal, Thailand) and Chile and Argentina for six months.
Teresa worked last in Minneapolis area and in 2000 started to receive SS Disability Income due to Huntington’s disease diagnosis. She lived in Minneapolis on 27th and Irving with her great friend Carla Rodwedder and daughter Sara who she rented from for 18-20 years. They did many things together, lake cabin, Gopher Women sports, and of course their dogs. Teresa’s dog Fran was a big part of her life for 12-14 years. Teresa moved into Skylite Apartments in Thief River Falls in April of 2010, to Good Samaritan Society in St. Paul, MN in September of 2011 and to Good Samaritan Society in Robbinsdale, MN in November of 2012.
Teresa is survived by her father Robert Nelson of Thief River Falls and brother Tim Jay Nelson of Minneapolis; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded by her mother Sandy; Gertie & Olaf Joppru, Ray & Arlene Nelson, Dave Joppru, Everett Peterson and Ray Johnson.
