Chester “Chet” Aubol, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Chet’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Chester “Chet” Harold Aubol was born in St. Cloud, MN, on August 24, 1930 to Arnold and Evelyn (Hilmen) Aubol. He graduated from Tech High in St. Cloud.
That summer, he met a cute waitress named Pauline Senart in Cold Spring, MN, marrying her after he returned from Germany where he was stationed while he was in the Army.
He learned land surveying while in the Army, and upon return began his lifelong career in working for the Department of Agriculture with the Soil Conservation Service as a surveyor.
He was an avid deer hunter, and loved pheasant hunting, and grouse hunting with his son-in-law, Kevin. He also loved to fish at Lake of the Woods, and ice fishing, especially spearing, he belonged to the Minnesota Dark House and Spearing Association.
He was also very involved with the VFW and American Legion in Thief River Falls.
He had a great sense of humor and loved practical jokes, he kept his sense of humor throughout his six month stay at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine where he was well cared for and loved.
He adored his two snowshoe cats, dogs, chocolate, and beer.
Chet is survived by his daughter, Lois Reff and her husband, Kevin of Fergus Falls, MN; two granddaughters, Dr. Jennifer (Reff) Keys DC, and her husband, Dr. Bradley Keys DC of St. Thomas, USVI, and Nicole (Aubol) Wilkins and her husband, Corben of Greeley, CO.
