Kyle Joppru, 75 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN with her loving family at her side.
The service to celebrate Kyle’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.
Kyle Diane Johnson was born January 11, 1944 in Fertile, MN the daughter of Emery Leland and Bernice Victoria (Mahlum) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Gary Lutheran Church in Gary, MN. She attended school in Gary graduating with the class of 1962. During high school, Kyle worked on the Swenson Family Farm near Gary, MN. After high school graduation she attended Northwest Technical College for Cosmetology in Thief River Falls, MN.
On April 28, 1963, Kyle was united in marriage to Donald Joppru at Gary Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls where three children were born, Wade, Tracee and Noel. Kyle loved her time at home raising her children.
Kyle was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing for different people throughout the area. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and working in her numerous flower gardens. In her later years, Kyle enjoyed spending time at the casino, weekly Friday night supper dates with Don, Yahtzee and jigsaw puzzles.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, served on the North Township Board as clerk for about ten years and was a Cub Scout leader when Wade was in the program.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Don; children, Wade (Cammy) Joppru, Tracee Bruggeman and Noel (Traci) Joppru all of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Aaron (Deanna) Joppru, Caitlin (Jason) Knodel, Heather (Travis) Blumer, Amber Juhl and Jesse Foster; great-grandchildren, Emmett, Lucy, Hayden, Rowen, and Astaire; siblings, Wendell (Penny) Johnson, Carolyn Rasmussen, Gayle Thorson and Nancy (Roger) Houg; sisters-in-law, Cindy Johnson, Barbara “Cookie” Overbye; brothers-in-law, Dean (Pam) Joppru, Rocky (Ann) Joppru, Mitch (Judy) Hams; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Reggie Bruggeman; granddaughter, Kristie Roseen; brother, Peter; brothers-in-law, Verle Rasmussen, Daniel Thorson, Arlen Overbye and Terry Joppru; and sister-in-law, Jan Hams.
