A winter storm will impact the region today into Monday. Light snow will continue for the rest of today with snow covered roads as the main impact.
Heavy snow enters the region later tonight. The winter storm will continue Sunday into Monday. Heavy snow with rates approaching an inch per hour will affect much of the region for a period of time.
The precipitation may mix over to freezing drizzle for periods of time as well. Winds will increase and lead to periodic whiteout conditions and significant drifting along and west of the Red River Valley. Most areas can expect 6 to 16 inches of additional snowfall by Monday morning, with heaviest snow fall across southeast North Dakota and adjacent portions of the Red River Valley. Ice accumulation may also lead to additional impacts.
Conditions will improve through the day Monday. This storm will create significant impacts on Holiday Season Travel and motorists should be prepared with winter survival kits if travel is absolutely necessary
