The 2020 Indoor Archery League is holding a Sign-Up and Membership Drive from 5:00pm to 9:00pm each night on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, January 6th, 7th and 8th at the Indoor Range at the TRF Pennington County Fairgrounds. On the evening of Saturday, January 11th the Friends of Rydell and Glacial Ridge Refuges Association will be hosting a Candlelight Ski and Owl Prowl Event at Rydell National Wildlife Refuge near Erskine; the Visitor Center will be open throughout the event, which will run from 4:45pm-8:30pm. As visitors traverse the trails, multiple owl calling stations will be set up where the calls of several owl species will be projected into the woods to try to generate a response. They will have several pairs of adult and child size skis, as well as snowshoes, available for visitors to use. If temperatures are below zero or wind chills are in the double-digits below zero, the event will be cancelled and potentially rescheduled at a later date. The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 10 original pieces of art by regional artists. The exhibit is currently at the Red Lake Falls Public Library until January 4th; it will be at the Roseau Public Library from January 5th to March 1st.
The Elevate NextGen Youth Center in Thief River Falls is open daily after school from 3pm-6pm. It is open to all students in grades 6-12, providing a safe environment, tutoring and other programs. Games, internet access and helpful adults will be there for all students; located at 411 North Horace Avenue in Thief River Falls.
