The 2020 Ice Fest is happening this weekend in Thief River Falls, Friday through Sunday, January 10th-12th.  This winter festival includes over a dozen hockey games, from mites to high school, vintage snowmobile rides, figure skating performances, candlelight snowshoeing, public skating, snow coloring contest and snowblower races at Pioneer Village, and so much more.  You can enjoy over 30 winter-related events held by various businesses and organizations this weekend.  For more information visit Facebook at 2020 Ice Fest.

Because of a cold and windy forecast for Saturday evening, the Rydell Candlelight Ski/Owl Prowl Event has been postponed to Saturday, February 8th.

Bethania Free Lutheran, located west of Newfolden, will be hosting their annual “After Christmas Service” on Sunday, January 12th at 2:30pm.  The Todd Bjorgaard family will share a devotion and music; there will be lunch served and candy bags handed out.  Come and bring a friend!

The TRF Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a “Souper Starz” Fundraiser on Monday, January 13th from 5pm-7pm at the TRF Eagles Club; tickets will be sold at the door only.  The cost is $10 per adult, with kids free with paying adult.  Listen to local organizations as they present their project or cause that needs funding.  The organization with the most votes splits a 50/50 take in the money collected from ticket sales.  The following organizations will be competing for your vote: TRF Area Community Theater, Lincoln High School Key Club, and Elevate NexGen.  Please come and sponsor their cause.

St. John Lutheran School is having a January Supper Fundraiser from 4:30pm to 7pm on Thursday, January 16th at St. John Lutheran Church.  The menu includes oven fried chicken, potatoes, vegetable and dinner roll.  A free will offering will be taken in support of the school, with a suggested donation of $8 per plate.

There will be a Broadway Cabaret Fundraiser for the Thief River Falls Area Community Theater on Friday, January 17th at 8pm at the River Walk Public House in Thief River Falls.  They’ll have live entertainment, Hors d’oeuvres, signature drinks, games of chance and more.  Tickets are $50 and are available at the Riverwalk and at www.trfact.org.  Come and support your local theater!

The MCC Education Foundation and the MCC Fine Arts Department present “Dinner with Performing Arts” on Saturday, January 18th at the MCC High School Gym.  This fundraiser event will have music by vocal and instrumental performers, the One-Act Play and a catered meal; prelude begins at 5:45pm.  The price is $25, with advance ticket sales only; tickets are available at the MCC High School office or Marshall County State Bank
