Grain trader Hunter Hanson will start his prison sentence at Federal Prison Camp in Duluth on convictions for federal wire fraud and money laundering charges in North Dakota.
Sentencing for Hanson was Nov. 12. Before his transfer on January 7th, Hanson had been held for a time at the Stutsman County Correction Center in Jamestown, N.D., and the Sherburne County jail at Elk River, Minn.
Hanson, 22, is serving an 8 1/2 year term after pleading guilty to defrauding farmers and elevators. Midwest Grain Trading and Nodak Grain businesses were Hunter’s businesses and were shuttered by the North Dakota Public Service Commission in November 2018.
