The USXC Goodridge-Grygla 500 is this Saturday and Sunday, February 8th and 9th. There will be an autograph session on Friday night from 5-7pm at the Goodridge Lions Hall, a Vintage Snowmobile Show on Saturday, with the 286 Snow Series Kid’s Races both days. Racing starts each day at 10am out of Goodridge.

On the evening of Saturday, February 8th the Friends of Rydell and Glacial Ridge Refuges Association will be hosting a Candlelight Ski and Owl Prowl Event at Rydell National Wildlife Refuge near Erskine; the Visitor Center will be open throughout the event, which will run from 5:15pm-9:00pm. As visitors traverse the trails, multiple owl calling stations will be set up where the calls of several owl species will be projected into the woods to try to generate a response. They will have several pairs of adult and child size skis, as well as snowshoes, available for visitors to use. If temperatures are below zero or wind chills are in the double-digits below zero, the event will be cancelled and potentially rescheduled at a later date. Due to ice conditions the Annual Knights of Columbus Fishing Derby will be held at St. Bernard’s this Sunday, February 9th from 1-3pm. There will be bingo, kids’ games and raffle for an ice auger. A hockey tradition continues with the “Battle of Brooks Avenue”, featuring Arctic Cat vs. Digi-Key, on Wednesday, February 12th at 6pm at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls. Concessions will be open; there will be Chuck-a-Puck and a Free Will Donation, with all proceeds distributed to local charities through Digi-Key Cares. Door prizes will be awarded and include Digi-Key, Arctic Cat, Norskie, and Zane McIntyre gear.
The TRF Area Community Theater presents a Valentine’s Dinner Theater, “Last of the Red-Hot Lover’s”, on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, February 12th-14th at the Eagles Club in Thief River Falls. Tickets are $25 each and include the show, a taco bar and dessert. Tickets are available at Digi-Key or at www.trfact.org.
