Lloyd Donald Wiseth was born October 28, 1929 (the day before the stock market crashed) on the family farm in Moylan Township, MN, north of Goodridge, the son of Roy and Ida Theresa (Petersen) Wiseth. He was baptized January 30, 1930 by Pastor E.L.Tungseth at First Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN. He attended school and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1948. Lars worked the family farm. In 1953 they purchased the Roy and Ida Wiseth Homestead. They milked cows until a tragic fire destroyed the barn in the mid-1950’s. Then they focused on small grain crops, hay and had a beef herd. They also invested in Lars’s beloved sheep herd. Elaine passed away December 28, 1991 after a courageous battle with cancer.
In 1995 Lars married Sylvia Battleson at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge. They made their home on the farm until 2008 when they purchased a home in Goodridge. Lars was very proud to see his grandson, Aaron Hyland take over the family homestead and continue the farming tradition. They enjoyed their travels to Yuma, AZ to spend their winters. Sylvia passed away in 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
