Genevieve Jarshaw, 94 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Alex Amiot officiating. Interment will follow at Rindal Cemetery, New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
Genevieve Harriet Olson was born May 22, 1925 in Marshall County, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Evans) Olson. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith and confirmed in that faith at Satersdal Church. She attended school in Grygla, MN and Riverside Country School.
She worked some years at Land O Lakes, where she candled eggs and also worked at Peterson Biddick and potato houses. She was a Nurse’s Aide at St. Luke’s Hospital in the 1940’s.
On June 19, 1948 Genevieve was united in marriage to James Jarshaw.
The couple farmed and sold grade “A” milk to Grand Forks Dairy for quite a few years and Genevieve also worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls for 12 years.
Through the years, Genevieve belonged to Satersdal Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Rindal Lutheran Church and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
Genevieve is survived by children, Deanna (Van) Swanson and Jim Jarshaw; grandchildren, Kelly Swanson, Ryan Swanson, Darrick Jarshaw, Dustin Jarshaw, Danni Jarshaw, Trevor Jarshaw, Tyson Jarshaw, and Tara Weigel; many great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Irene Holmstrom and Roma Erickson; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jarshaw; sons, Darryl Jarshaw and Michael Jarshaw; sisters and brothers, Gladys (Ted) Olson, Hilda (Hans) Cleven, Olaf Olson, Sally (Paul) Olstad, Ella (Harry) Knutson, Corrine (Frank) Freitag, Arvid Olson, Norman Olson, Waldemar Olson, Walfred (Jennie) Olson, and Evelyn (Clarence) Joppru; many nieces and nephews.
