Impactful weather is expected today with blowing snow, strong wind gusts, and slick conditions. Wind gusts up to 45 mph within the Red River Valley are likely. This will combine with fresh snow in the northern and central Red River Valley to develop areas of blowing and drifting snow. Blowing snow will likely reduce visibility to at times half a mile or less, mainly in open country. Greatest impacts are expected from around noon into early evening Thursday. Slick conditions will remain possible through the day Thursday.
Updated forecast snowfall amounts for a few areas. Snow band is setting up very near Highway 2…. so look for 2-3 inches along Hwy 2, including Devils Lake, Grand Forks to Fosston with Bemidji area on the edge of that.
Main changes was to bump Grand Forks, Thief River Falls and Fosston areas from 1-2 inches to 2-3 inches.
