March 18th at 10:30 pm, Thief River Falls Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 210 Kendall Avenue South in Thief River Falls. Officers arrived on scene and were given a description of the burglar and that he was last seen walking west from the location. A deputy from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office located a subject who matched the description at 118 Conley Avenue South. The owner of the apartment said no one should be in the building and gave officers permission to search his apartment. They located Jordan Elijah Cooper in a bedroom with clothes matching those of the subject in a pile next to him.
While officers stayed with Jordan Cooper, another officer interviewed the victims who said the suspect ordered the victim to let him inside. When the victim did not comply, the suspect broke the door frame and punched the victim. The two men began wrestling and the assailant fled the scene when police were called.
Jordan Elijah Cooper, age 28, of Warroad was charged with First Degree Burglary and Fifth Degree Assault. He was booked into the Pennington County Jail where he remains as of March 25th, 2020.
