Many of us have begun to settle into our new normal, enough so that many are looking for some way to help. One thing to consider is to, while maintaining social distance, reach out to friends, family and neighbors-especially the elderly. Volunteer to deliver groceries or other essential items to a neighbor who is staying at home.
Support often means money. You can donate to charities or other non-profits and food shelves. The purchase of a gift card from a local business is similar to a micro-loan that may help them stay in business.
Blood reserves are low right now, please consider donating blood. Check redcross.org for blood drives. You can still volunteer too. Check with the Minnesota Voluntary Organizations in Action in Disaster. Finally you can give Personal Protective Equipment like gowns, masks and gloves. Contact your Emergency Manager if you have PPE’s to donate.
