Minnesota Executive Orders

These are some of the executive orders created by Governor Tim Walz during the COVID-19 pandemic. This list does not include all of the executive orders, however it has some of the orders with dates that have effected a broad group of population. Here is a link to a complete list of the 26 Executive Orders.

 

20-01 March 13th, this was the original COVID-19 executive order Declaring a Peacetime Emergency and Coordinating Minnesota’s Strategy to Protect Minnesotans from COVID-19.

 

20-02 March 16th, Authorizing and Directing the Commissioner of Education to Temporarily Close Schools to Plan for a Safe Educational Environment.  ( order 20-19 provides for distance learning from March 13th through May 4th)

 

20-04 March 16th Providing for Temporary Closure of Bars, Restaurants, and Other Places of Public Accommodation. (extended in executive order 20-18 to May 1st)

 

20-08 March 18th  Executive Order amends Executive Order 20-04 on March 18th to include the closure of: Gymnasiums, fitness centers, recreation centers, indoor sports facilities, indoor exercise facilities, exercise studios, and spas tanning establishments, body art establishments, tattoo parlors, piercing parlors, businesses offering massage therapy or similar body work, spas, salons, nail salons, cosmetology salons, esthetician salons, advanced practice esthetician salons, eyelash salons, and barber shops. This includes, but is not limited to, all salons and shops licensed by the Minnesota Board of Cosmetologist Examiners and the Minnesota Board of Barber Examiners until May 1st at 5 pm.

 

20-13 March 21st. The Adjutant General will order on March 21, 2020, the people, equipment, and facilities needed to provide assistance throughout Minnesota activating the Minnesota National Guard.

 

20-18 March 25th  The closure of bars, restaurants, and other public accommodations set forth in Executive Orders 20-04 and 20-08 is extended until May 1, 2020 at 5:00 pm. 

 

20-19 March 25th Directs the Commissioner of Education to implement a distance learning period beginning on March 30, 2020 through May 4, 2020 (“Distance Learning Period”).

20-20 March 25th Orders that beginning on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 11:59 pm through Friday, April 10, 2020 at 5:00 pm, all persons currently living within the State of Minnesota are ordered to stay at home or in their place of residence except to engage in the Activities and Critical Sector work.
