Minnesota’s Economics during COVID-19

On Saturday (3-29-2020) Governor Walz signed into law a legislative bill which allocated 330 million dollars to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. March 17th, Governor Walz had signed a bill for 221 million for state hospitals and other health care services. The latest law brings the state’s total response to more than $550 million to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

District 1a Representative Dan Fabian recently spoke with Thief River Falls Radio. We asked him to explain the purpose for the most recent funds.

 

What started as a projected surplus in June 2021, may now be a deficit after losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

 

 

Although the legislature had gone into recess, they can reconvene to do work at any time. Work goes on behind the scene even when legislators are not on the floor.
