The Minnesota Department of Health reports 6218 additional tests were completed since Wednesday (5-20-2020) for a total of 173, 556 Covid-19 tests completed statewide, or about 3 percent of the population.
There are 18, 200 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Minnesota as of Thursday (05-21-2020) an increase of 539 cases since Wednesday’s report. This number of cases means 10.4 percent of all tests are positive.
Of those with confirmed COVID-19 cases;2380 patients required hospitalization, 566 are still hospitalized and 229 still require intensive care.
809 of the patients with confirmed cases have died, this is an increase of 32 people since Wednesday, this is the greatest increase in Minnesota since the pandemic began. Of the 809 deaths due to Covid-19, 663 have occured in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
12,488 of the patients with COVID-19 no longer need to be isolated.
