Digi-Key Media Statement re: KNAPP Subcontractor COVID-19 Case
Throughout the unprecedented and evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, their families, our partners and the community are Digi-Key’s top priority.
Yesterday we were notified by KNAPP, a primary contractor working on the Digi-Key distribution center expansion project in Thief River Falls, has subcontractor team members who have tested positive for COVID-19. In a joint decision between Digi-Key and our contracting partners we are taking the precautious decision to suspend activities in this facility through June 1 to ensure proper cleaning and disinfection.
In a statement released by KNAPP they stated that a thorough investigation of potential workplace contacts has been completed. All identified individuals have been notified to self-quarantine and follow medical guidelines.
Digi-Key is working with KNAPP and all our partners to ensure we have a healthy work environment for all. Digi-Key’s partners are operating under the same stringent safety measures for the impact of COVID-19 that we have applied to our operations to collectively keep our teams and community safe.
The primary Digi-Key facility and distribution center in Thief River Falls continues to be safe and clean, as reasonably possible and is open and operating as normal. The temporary suspension of the distribution center expansion project will not impact our day-to-day business.
Under the guidance of the public health community no further containment and sanitization efforts are necessary beyond the actions that we are taking. The health and wellbeing of our employees and partners remains of utmost importance. Digi-Key will continue to do our part along with our partners in creating a safe work environment for our employees.
