Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Darrel Cory officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, St. Hilaire, MN.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.
Mildred Benston was born May 2, 1927 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Clarence and Hilma (Olsen) Benston. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She attended Hyawatha Country School, Knox Elementary School, and was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN. After graduating she worked as a house keeper for area families. Mildred loved going to dances and it was at a dance at Val Hall where she met Alvin Rondorf – the love of her life.
The couple married October 14, 1950. Together they had two sons, Roger and Ronald. Mildred and Alvin ran a dairy farm and did some grain farming. Mildred raised laying hens and would sell eggs to her customers in town.
Mildred and Alvin loved the old time dances and Saturday nights were spent burning up the dance floor at the Eagles Club.
Mildred had been a resident of Valley Assisted Living for the last 5 years of her life.
Mildred is survived by a son: Ronald(Jodie)Rondorf of Thief River Falls, MN; daughter-in-law: Joetta Rondorf of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren, Justin Rondorf of Fargo, ND, Andy(Vicki) Rondorf of Monticello, MN, Janet(Tylor) Lindstrom of Strandquist, MN, Lee(Jaclyn) Rondorf of Red Lake Falls, MN, John Rondorf of Montgomery, MN, Adam Rondorf of Red Lake Falls, MN; great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Brady, and Owen Rondorf of Monticello, MN, Ayla and Ashlyn Lindstrom of Strandquist, MN, Akayla Rondorf of Fargo, ND, Kendra Rondorf of Red Lake Falls, MN, Jeremiah, Gabriel, and Lillian Rondorf of Montgomery, MN; sister, Clarice Sorteberg of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Hilma, her husband Alvin, her son Roger, her sister Marie Iverson and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
