The Hwy 32 detour is planned to be lifted on Tuesday, July 14. Crews will be striping on Monday, weather permitting. Each project is listed below with the project update and upcoming schedule.

All departments involved with this year’s construction would like to thank you for working with us through this busy construction season. Project Updates

MnDOT

Hwy 1 Roundabouts in TRF

  • This week: Crews continued installing drainage structures and grading. They began pouring concrete curb on the roundabout at Brooks Ave.
  • Next week: The same work details will continue next week.
  • Traffic Impacts: Detour onto 1st St W

Hwy 32 Resurface between TRF and St. Hilaire

  • This week: Paving from St. Hilaire to TRF is now complete. Rumble strips have been installed.
  • Next week: Striping will take place on Monday, weather permitting, which would allow for the detour to be lifted on Tuesday.
  • Traffic Impacts: Within the city of St. Hilaire, the work will be completed under traffic with flaggers and lane closures.  Detour will continue on Highway 32 and will be lifted on Tuesday:
    • Motorists will use CR 3, CR 20 and Highway 59.
    • Traffic coming from south headed north, must take detour.
    • From the north, going to hospital can still get through, using flaggers on site. Only able to get to hospital, not further south.
    • Residents will have access maintained.
    • Detour lifted on Tuesday, July 14, weather permitting.

Hwy 1 Resurfacing east of TRF

 

Pennington County

Hwy 32 Roundabout at CR 8/Mark Blvd

  • This week: Curb and gutter on Phase 1 will be complete this week.
  • Next week: Prepare to begin paving the week of July 20. Phase 2 will include the construction f the Mark Boulevard leg of the roundabout.
  • Traffic Impacts: Continued use of bypass lane

CR 8/Mark Blvd route extension and roundabout

  • This week: Crews have been working on installing beams in the middle span of the bridge. Water levels have delayed the work. Crews have been progressing on the Challenger School roundabout with grading and installation of aggregate.
  • Next week: Aggregate installation will continue between the roundabout and the bridge.
  • Traffic Impacts: The intersection at Pennington Ave near Challenger Elementary is currently closed and a detour is in place.
    • Detour onto Greenwood St, Hwy 59 and 140th St NE (See picture below)

Westside flood damage reduction Projects

  • Construct a diversion channel and drainage infrastructure on the west side of TRF. Underground storm sewer will be installed along Barzen Ave and Greenwood St, along with a new sanitary sewer
    • This week: Crews began boring the 54″ steel casing pipe.
    • Next week: Excavation of the outlet, east of Hwy 32 will begin early next week.
    • Traffic Impacts: Shoulder closure along Greenwood St., Oakland park Rd., and Highway 32. Shoulder closure on the north side of Greenwood St. from TH 32 to Oakland Park Rd

  • Replace Hwy 1 culvert west of the intersection with Hwy 59
    • This week:
    • Next week:
    • Traffic Impacts: Once this project begins, motorists will detour onto 190th St NE and CR 14
  • Replace Hwy 32 culvert south of Pennington CR 7
    • This week: Culvert installation is complete.
    • Next week: The subcontractor will begin forming the inlet end section in the next few weeks.
    • Traffic Impacts: Detour will continue. Motorists use CR 3, CR 20 and Highway 59.
      • Traffic coming from south headed north, must take detour.
      • From the north, motorists going to the hospital can still get through, using flaggers on site. However they will not be able to travel further south.
      • Residents will have access maintained
      • Once crews begin formting the inlet at the culvert site, there will be a shoulder closure on the west side. However, the detour will be lifted on Tuesday, July 14, weather permitting.
