If the Minnesota Legislature does convene in August, the bonding bill will most likely not be on the agenda. The House Speaker, Democrat Melissa Hortman recently said that because the state is selling previously-authorized bonds in August, that special session will have no action on a bonding bill. If the legislature were to disrupt the state’s financial situation, that would make it more difficult to sell our bonds. It might even violate S-E-C regulations. Hortman also stated that mid or late September would be a more likely time for a bonding bill to see the house floor.
