Kenneth Hodny, of Newfolden, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND, at the age of 66. He was surrounded by his loving family.
The service to celebrate Kenny’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the Hodny Farm, 30761 150th Avenue NW, Newfolden, MN with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Please bring your lawn chair and practice social distancing. Interment will be at the Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery in Florian, MN at a later date
Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Hodny was born on March 26, 1954 in Park River, ND, the son of Daniel and Edith (Kelley) Hodny. He lived by Lankin, ND, until 6th grade, then his family moved to Newfolden, MN. Kenny graduated with the class of 1972 from Marshall County Central High School in Newfolden.
Kenny graduated from Northland AVTI in Thief River Falls with a degree in Auto Body.
On October 23, 1976 Kenny was united in marriage to Rita Kazmierczak at the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, MN. They lived many years in Hallock before moving to the farm in Newfolden. From this union three children were born: Sara, Julie, and Christopher.
Kenny held many jobs including auto body for C & M Ford, farming, and Underdahl Hardware Hank.
Kenny enjoyed hunting with his family, fishing with his brothers, smoking meats and other foods that came to his mind, making wine, cooking and baking, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed taking drives around the section looking for deer and stopping along the way to talk to the neighbors. The coffee was always on, along with a cookie for those who stopped by.
Kenny was a lifetime member of the Agassiz Rod and Gun Club.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Rita of Newfolden, MN; children, Sara (J.D.) Ombler of Strandquist, MN, Julie (Derek) Fugleberg of Grand Forks, ND, and Christopher Hodny (Rosie Lamere) of Middle River, MN; grandchildren, Eric, Paige, and Josephine Ombler, Isabella, Natalia, Gabriella, Leonidas, and Jameson Fugleberg, and Kayden Hodny; siblings, James (Lova) Hodny of Newfolden, MN, Robert (Brenda) Hodny of Bismarck, ND, and Daniel (Randi) Hodny of Thief River Falls, MN; mother-in-law, Frances Kazmierczak of Stephen, MN; brother-in-law, Robert (Gretchen) Bjorgaard of Viking, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Kathy Bjorgaard; brother, Edward Hodny; father-in-law, Joseph Kazmierczak; and many aunts and uncles.
