Audrey Marie Foldoe was born January 6, 1930 to Gustave and Mable (Linder) Foldoe at the Foldoe home. Audrey attended the one room school near their home through the 8th grade and then 4 years at the Plummer High School, graduating in 1948. After high school, she went to Norman Training in Red Lake Falls which was training to become a teacher to teach in the one room schools. She taught for four years in two different schools and while boarding at the Sogla Family Ranch she met and fell in love with their hired man, Dennis Brinkman.
She married Dennis Brinkman on July 11, 1953 after he had spent two years in Korea during that conflict. They were married at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee where she was baptized, confirmed and grew up. Five children were born to them, Connie, Debra, Douglas and Wesley when they lived by Plummer, MN. Janet was born at Hillsboro, ND as Dennis was employed for two years on a farm. They moved back to Plummer for about 6 years.
In October 1969 they moved to Thief River Falls as Dennis became employed at Northland Community College. The family moved several times and one concern Audrey had was to be involved in church, so they became members of several. The last was Calvary Lutheran of St. Hilaire.
Audrey graduated from Bemidji State College in 1972 with a degree in Elementary & Special Education. She taught school for 27 years, mostly in Special Education. She retired from Middle River School on May 30, 1980.
Some of the special things she enjoyed, feeding birds, flower gardening, crocheting, being involved in Christian Women and Homemakers Groups. She also loved sewing and made quilts for the grandkids, and clothing for her family.
