This winter travelers will see increased traffic on Highway 59, north of Thief River Falls, due to equipment and vehicles entering and leaving construction parking lots near 180th Street Northeast. Sheriff Ray Kuznia suggested to area drivers that they may want to detour around the area particularly in the morning and at night. Sheriff Kuznia suggested southbound traffic turn off on 190th Street at Highway 59 and travel east to Highway 32 and then continue south from there, while northbound travelers-from Thief River Falls- would take Highway 32 north, then cross over to Highway 59 at 190th Street. Locally, this tarred road is known as the Evan’s Road.
The detour is a suggestion in the interest of decreasing traffic in the construction lot area and remains open to all traffic. Law Enforcement recently responded to an accident in the area on Friday morning.
